Amelia Jenks Bloomer

This was a splendid interview by Kelly Pollack of Sara Catterall, author of the second biography (the first, by her husband Dexter Bloomer, a year after her death) of Amelia Jenks Bloomer, born in Homer, NY, the exact center of New York State, in the "burned over district" of new ideas in the 19th Century. Here, Ms. Catterall gives a fine overview of Bloomer's life. Her first-rate, in-depth biography of Bloomer is a welcome addition to biographies of women's rights activists of the 19th Century.
